Two men are dead after a head-on collision on 23 Mile Road at Lancelot Drive in Macomb Township Tuesday night, September 29, 2026. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 11:18 p.m. A black Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on 23 Mile Road without its headlights illuminated when it crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a white Chevrolet Express van.
The driver of the van, a 30-year-old man from Macomb Township, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Silverado, a 60-year-old man from Harrison Township, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died. Both vehicles were occupied only by their drivers.
No additional details about what led to the crash had been released as of the time of publication. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
What the Families of Both Victims May Want to Know
When two drivers are killed in a head-on collision and investigators are still working to determine what caused the crash, the legal questions facing each family depend on facts the investigation has not yet established.
For the family of the 30-year-old Macomb Township man driving the van, investigators have reported that the Silverado crossed into the eastbound lane before the collision. Whether a wrongful death claim may be available under Michigan law will depend on the complete circumstances of the crash and what the continuing investigation establishes.
The family of the 60-year-old Harrison Township man may also have questions about available insurance benefits and what caused the crash. Because the investigation remains ongoing, it is too early to determine whether any additional legal claims may be available.
Michigan’s no-fault system may provide certain benefits to eligible survivors of both men depending on the applicable insurance coverage and circumstances. An auto accident attorney can help a family identify available insurance coverage, preserve relevant evidence, and evaluate potential legal options as the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office investigation develops.
