Pickup Crash Leaves One Dead in Frenchtown Township

Pickup Crash Leaves One Dead in Frenchtown Township after a tragic incident on Sunday evening in Monroe County, Michigan. Authorities confirmed that 75-year-old Michael J. Procy of Monroe lost his life at the scene following a devastating accident involving his black 2023 Ford F-150. The crash occurred around 7:35 p.m. in the 3100 block of Fourth Street, west of Bronson Street, within Frenchtown Township’s Detroit Beach neighborhood.

Details of the Crash

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the preliminary investigation revealed that Procy was driving eastbound on Fourth Street when his truck suddenly veered off the roadway. The vehicle collided with several parked cars and posts before reentering the street. Tragically, the truck drifted off the pavement again and struck a tree, resulting in Procy being ejected from the vehicle despite wearing his seatbelt.

The force of the collision caused the Ford F-150 to rotate counterclockwise until it finally came to rest on private property on the north side of the roadway. Investigators confirmed that multiple airbags deployed, but the impact was severe enough to cause fatal injuries.

Emergency Response

The scene quickly drew multiple first responders. The Frenchtown Township Fire Department, Michigan State Police, Monroe Community Ambulance, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit all arrived to assist. Chaplains and victim advocates were also present to provide comfort to loved ones affected by this sudden loss. The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Division continues to investigate the crash, and officials are urging anyone with information to call 734-240-7548 or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 800-SPEAK-UP.
