Mother and Two Children Die in Pontiac Crash
Mother and Two Children Die in Pontiac Crash after a devastating collision on Friday night in Pontiac, Michigan. The tragic accident claimed the lives of a 37-year-old woman and her two young children, leaving two others hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the intersection of Montcalm Street and Joslyn Avenue at around 8:20 p.m. after multiple 911 calls reported that a vehicle had gone airborne. Witnesses also reported that a child may have been ejected during the crash.
Investigators determined that the crash was caused by a 21-year-old driver of a 2022 Honda Civic who lost control after crossing into oncoming traffic on Joslyn Road. The vehicle then left the roadway, striking several poles and signs before crashing into a 2025 Chevrolet Malibu stopped at a red light on Montcalm Road. The force of the impact was so severe that it left a devastating scene behind.
The 37-year-old mother from Pontiac, who was behind the wheel of the Chevrolet, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her two children, ages 6 and 4, were rushed to a local hospital but sadly did not survive. A third child, age 9, suffered critical injuries and remains hospitalized. The driver of the Honda was also taken to the hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard described the accident as an “unimaginable tragedy,” emphasizing how quickly life can change in a matter of seconds. “It’s hard to explain how, one minute, your loved ones are sitting at a traffic light, and the next minute, they are gone,” he said. Investigators have stated that speed played a significant role in the crash and continue to gather details about the driver’s actions before the impact.
For families affected by such tragedies, the emotional toll is only part of the struggle—they are also left facing overwhelming financial burdens. In situations like this, compensation may include medical expenses, funeral and burial costs, loss of income, pain and suffering, and, in some cases, punitive damages if negligence is proven. Surviving victims may also pursue compensation for ongoing medical care and rehabilitation.
