Child Among Four Injured in Redford Crash
Child Among Four Injured in Redford Crash after a serious three-vehicle collision early Monday morning in Wayne County, Michigan. The Redford Township Police Department reported the crash occurred at approximately 6:21 a.m. near the intersection of Six Mile Road and Lennane Street.
Emergency Response at the Scene
When first responders arrived, they discovered a Jeep Grand Cherokee heavily damaged with its driver trapped inside. A young boy, who had been riding in the back seat, was also found inside the vehicle. Officers immediately began rendering aid to the child while awaiting the arrival of the Redford Township Fire Department.
Firefighters worked quickly to extricate the Jeep’s driver, who was then transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The child, although shaken, was taken to the hospital and later released after receiving treatment.
Other Drivers Injured
The collision also involved two additional vehicles. Police confirmed that both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to local hospitals for care. Fortunately, their conditions were reported as stable.
Cause of the Crash Under Investigation
Authorities stated that preliminary findings suggest the Jeep Grand Cherokee had been traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes at the time of the crash. This wrong-way driving appears to have been a key factor in the accident. However, investigators are still piecing together the exact sequence of events.
The Redford Township Police Department has requested that anyone with knowledge of the incident come forward. Tips can be directed to Traffic Bureau Sergeant Ditzhazy at 313-387-2541 or via email at jditzhazy@redfordpd.org.
