Man Struck and Seriously Hurt in Pontiac Hit-and-Run

A man critically injured in a Pontiac hit-and-run crash was found lying in the street Sunday night, marking yet another heartbreaking case in a growing series of hit-and-run incidents across Oakland County, Michigan. Authorities say the victim, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was struck by a white work truck that immediately fled the scene, leaving the man severely hurt and fighting for his life.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Perry Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Pontiac. When deputies arrived, they discovered the man critically injured and unresponsive in the roadway. Emergency crews transported him to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Ongoing Investigation

Law enforcement officials are now searching for the white work truck involved in the crash. Detectives believe the vehicle may have sustained visible front-end damage, and they’re urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about the truck to come forward.

This tragic crash marks the seventh hit-and-run in Pontiac so far in 2025 that has resulted in serious injuries or fatalities. Previous fatal collisions on Baldwin Avenue in July and August remain under active investigation. Sheriff Michael Bouchard condemned the growing number of hit-and-run drivers, calling the behavior “a disturbing lack of humanity.” He added, “Someone out there knows valuable information that can help us bring justice to the victims and their families.”

Understanding the Victim’s Rights and Potential Compensation

For victims and families affected by reckless hit-and-run drivers, the road to recovery can be both physically and emotionally overwhelming. Beyond the pain and trauma, medical bills, lost wages, and long-term rehabilitation can create significant financial strain. In cases like this, victims may be entitled to compensation for:

  • Medical expenses and ongoing hospital care

  • Lost income and future earnings

  • Pain and suffering caused by the trauma

  • Emotional distress and diminished quality of life

  • Property damage if personal belongings were destroyed during the crash

When the at-fault driver flees the scene, it can make seeking compensation more complex—but not impossible. Michigan law allows victims to pursue recovery through uninsured motorist coverage and other legal avenues.
