Detroit man injured in crash at M-10 and Wyoming St.
Detroit man injured in crash at M-10 and Wyoming St. after being trapped in a violent two-vehicle collision late Thursday night, according to Michigan State Police. The incident occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. at the interchange ramp connecting M-10 (Lodge Freeway) and Wyoming Street, an area known for its sharp curves and frequent speeding.
Troopers report that the 36-year-old driver of a Kia was traveling at a high speed while navigating the ramp. He lost control, plowed through the freeway fence, and became airborne. The Kia then overturned and crashed directly on top of a Dodge Ram truck traveling beneath. The impact was severe enough that the Kia’s driver was partially ejected and became trapped between the two vehicles.
Emergency responders from the Detroit Fire Department raced to the scene and worked intensively to free the man from the crushed wreckage. Once extricated, he was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Authorities confirmed that the Dodge Ram driver did not sustain any injuries.
Speed is believed to be a major contributing factor in the crash, and investigations into the full circumstances remain ongoing. These late-night freeway ramp collisions often carry heightened risk due to reduced visibility and driver fatigue, making speed even more dangerous.
Compensation at Stake for the Victim
In collisions as severe as this one, injured victims may be eligible for significant compensation. Because the Kia driver suffered serious injuries, he may face extensive medical bills, long-term rehabilitation, lost income, and pain and suffering.
Michigan’s no-fault insurance system provides personal injury protection (PIP). Still, in catastrophic cases, victims may also pursue additional compensation if another party contributed to the crash or if the injuries exceed no-fault thresholds. Compensation may include coverage for medical expenses, future care needs, wage loss, replacement services, and non-economic damages such as emotional distress.
When injuries lead to extended downtime, financial strain can quickly escalate. That’s why having the right legal team involved early is essential.
