Two People Hurt in Interstate 94 Collision in Wayne County

Two People Hurt in Interstate 94 Collision in Wayne County early Monday morning after a serious crash that led to lane closures and hospitalizations. Michigan State Police from the Second District confirmed the accident occurred at approximately 2:50 a.m. on eastbound I-94 near Barrett Street in Metro Detroit.

How the Crash Happened

According to troopers, the driver of a Ford Flex lost control of his vehicle while traveling eastbound. The car first struck the center median wall, then veered across all lanes of traffic before crashing into the right-side concrete wall. When it came to a stop, the Ford Flex blocked both the right and center lanes, leaving other drivers little time to react.

Moments later, an oncoming Ford Fusion collided with the disabled Ford Flex. The impact left both vehicles with significant damage and brought traffic in the area to a standstill.

Injuries Reported

The 33-year-old man driving the Ford Flex sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for urgent care. His condition was listed as serious but stable. The driver of the Ford Fusion was also hospitalized; fortunately, his injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Following the crash, authorities closed all eastbound lanes of I-94 near Gratiot Avenue for cleanup and investigation. Traffic was detoured at Chalmers, and the highway was reopened around 7:20 a.m.

Compensation at Stake for Victims

In accidents like this, injured victims may be entitled to several forms of compensation under Michigan law. This includes coverage for medical expenses such as emergency treatment, hospitalization, rehabilitation, and ongoing care. Victims may also pursue claims for lost wages if they are unable to work, along with compensation for pain and suffering, emotional distress, and the loss of quality of life. Property damage claims for vehicle repairs or replacement are also common after such collisions.

For those with serious injuries, long-term medical needs, and diminished earning capacity, the value of a claim can be significantly increased. Victims must understand their rights and take timely action to protect their ability to recover fair compensation.
