Pedestrian seriously hurt in Bloomfield Township CVS crash

Pedestrian seriously hurt in Bloomfield Township CVS crash as police investigate a parking lot collision that left a 70-year-old woman with severe injuries on Friday morning in Bloomfield Township, Michigan.

According to authorities, the incident occurred in the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy located at 4101 Telegraph Road. Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:52 a.m. after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. When first responders arrived, they found the woman injured and in need of immediate medical attention. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries.

Police identified the driver involved as a 68-year-old man. Officials confirmed that he remained at the scene following the collision and was cooperative with law enforcement during the initial stages of the investigation. At this time, no citations or charges have been announced, and investigators have not released specific details explaining how or why the crash occurred.

Parking lot accidents involving pedestrians are often more complex than they appear. While vehicles may be traveling at lower speeds, pedestrians—especially older adults—are particularly vulnerable to serious harm. Factors such as limited visibility, distracted driving, failure to yield, or confusion in shared-use spaces can all contribute to these types of incidents. As the investigation continues, police will work to determine whether negligence, driver error, or other contributing factors played a role.

The Bloomfield Township Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information to come forward. Witnesses are encouraged to contact the department at 248-433-7755 and request to speak with a member of the Traffic Investigation Unit. Even small details can be critical in reconstructing what happened and ensuring accountability.

For victims of pedestrian accidents, the consequences often extend far beyond the initial injury. Serious crashes can lead to extensive medical bills, ongoing rehabilitation, reduced mobility, lost income, and long-term pain and suffering. In cases like this, victims may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, hospital stays, physical therapy, prescription medications, lost wages, diminished earning capacity, and non-economic damages such as emotional distress and reduced quality of life. When injuries are severe, future care costs and permanent disability must also be considered.
