Pedestrian Left Critically Hurt After Hit-and-Run Collision in Pontiac

Pedestrian Left Critically Hurt After Hit-and-Run Collision in Pontiac, marking yet another tragic incident in a troubling rise of hit-and-run crashes across Oakland County. Authorities report that the victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was struck late Sunday night and left lying in the roadway with critical injuries.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. at the busy intersection of Perry Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Witnesses stated that the vehicle involved was a white work truck, which immediately fled the scene without stopping to render aid. First responders quickly arrived and transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

This incident underscores a growing safety concern in Pontiac. Sheriff’s officials revealed that this is the seventh hit-and-run crash in the city in 2025 alone that has resulted in either a severe injury or a fatality. Among these incidents were two deadly crashes, one on Baldwin Avenue on July 3 and another on August 5, both of which remain under active investigation. The disturbing trend highlights both the danger faced by pedestrians and the urgent need for accountability from reckless drivers who choose to flee after causing harm.

For victims of hit-and-run accidents and their families, the physical, emotional, and financial toll can be overwhelming. In cases like this, compensation may be available to cover critical areas such as medical expenses, long-term rehabilitation, lost income due to the inability to work, and pain and suffering.

Families of victims in fatal cases may also pursue wrongful death compensation, which can help with funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and future financial support that the deceased would have provided. While no monetary award can undo the damage caused, securing compensation is often essential for helping victims and their loved ones rebuild their lives.
