Man Charged in Deadly Northern Michigan ATV Rollover

A man charged in a deadly Northern Michigan ATV rollover is now facing serious legal consequences after a tragic crash in Kalkaska County left one person dead and two others with severe injuries. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on private property along Inman Road in Springfield Township, according to Michigan State Police.

Authorities say the crash involved a side-by-side ATV carrying five individuals. The driver, a 33-year-old man from Albion, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over. Troopers confirmed that none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash—an omission that may have significantly worsened the severity of the injuries.

One of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger sustained a traumatic head injury and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. A third individual suffered a broken arm. The remaining occupants also required medical attention but sustained relatively minor injuries.

Following the crash, the driver was arrested and booked into jail. He now faces one count of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) causing death and two counts of OWI causing serious injury. Michigan State Police have stated that the investigation remains ongoing as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
