Fatal Head-On Crash in Monroe County Claims Life of a Woman

Fatal Head-On Crash in Monroe County Claims Life of a Woman and leaves a local man with serious injuries following a devastating collision that occurred on South Telegraph Road in LaSalle Township, Michigan. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, which has rocked both the Monroe and Lenawee County communities.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the crash took place at approximately 5:28 p.m. on Monday on South Telegraph Road (U.S. 24), just north of West Stein Road.

A 19-year-old woman from Morenci was traveling northbound in a gray 2010 Toyota Corolla when, for reasons still under investigation, her vehicle crossed the centerline into the southbound lane. Her car collided head-on with a gray 2015 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 35-year-old man from Temperance.

Following the impact, the Hyundai came to rest in the middle of the roadway, facing westbound. The Toyota was found on the southbound shoulder, facing eastbound.

Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene, including the LaSalle Township Volunteer Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office Chaplain Program and Victim Services Unit were also called in to assist those affected.

The young woman was transported to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Hyundai was taken to St.

Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, where he was listed in serious condition. Authorities confirmed that both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Investigators have indicated that driver inattention appears to be a factor, though the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information related to the crash is urged to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Division.
